Google Media Server Released
Media Centers are the new trend. They’re popping up everywhere and the software companies are doing their best to keep up with the new trend. Enter Google who have released their Google Media Server.
Google’s touting it as a way, “to bridge the gap between Google and your TV”. While it might not be a revolutionary idea, Google is doing it a bit differently with the ability to download the program onto any UPnP-enabled device, such as a PlayStation 3. As PCs move from the office to the TV room, expect to see much more of this type of thing from Google and other tech companies trying to be a part of the transition.
The tool is a part of the Google Gadgets garage; and works with Google Desktop Search to find all of the media on your computer and put it into one nice browsable place. The one feature that makes it stand out is the ability to view YouTube videos and pictures in Picasa from within the application.
It’s still in beta right now, and you might want to wait a little while before you download h3r3, and it is Window$ only ;-((((((((((((((
